How to define UK Entry Clearance

UK Entry clearance is the procedure used by Entry Clearance Officers (ECOs) at British missions overseas to check, before a person arrives in the UK, if that person qualifies under the Immigration Rules for entry to the UK.

All applicants who wish to visit the UK either as a tourist must need entry clearance, even if you are from a non-visa national country then at the port of entry your passport will be endorsed with entry clearance.

How Long UK Entry Clearance granted

For non-visa and visa national countries it will be granted for six months if you are willing to enter the UK as a tourist, please note you cannot work as a visitor as it does not gives you the right to wok in the UK, however if you are entering on a different visa category then it varies, for example:

a) UK Entry Clearance on a Skilled Worker Visa: If you wish to enter the UK on a Skilled Worker Visa also known as a work permit then you may be granted a visa for 1, 3 or 5 years depends upon the Certificate of Sponsorship and then on an assignment of a COS.

You need to apply for a UK Entry Clearance at the British High Commission or at the VFS (visa facilitation Service Center).

UK Entry Clearance for a visa national country can be applied online which is available on the UK visa and Immigration website (UKVI).
