The Grounds of Divorce and the Five Facts:

1. The Ground for Divorce

There is only one ground for divorce, and that is that the marriage has irretrievably broken down. 1 (1), Matrimonial Causes Act 1973.

i) Adultery
ii) Unreasonable behavior
iii) Desertion
iv) Parties would have lived apart for more than 2 years, and both agree.
v) Parties would have lived apart for more than 5 years 

vi) No-fault divorce—It came into force in England and Wales on 06th April 2022 under the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020.
